Bob Freeborn and the freshman class had a fun day at the Merry Lea Environmental Center on Tuesday, May 14. Their day was filled with an abundance of educational activities from looking at bugs under microscopes to setting methane gas on fire at the bottom of the pond. The students had opportunities to find real live critters in the pond and eat cattails and dandelions. Besides dandelions, the 9th graders ate their packed lunches in the pavilions while enjoying the simplicity of life. Bob Freeborn commented saying, “Kids need to get in nature, outside of their home, off the couch where real live things happen. They need to get excited about nature.” The students agree that it is was fun day of learning outside of the school building. Nature is a beautiful thing!
