As most people know, the human race depends on caffeine for everyday living. Whether it is making your own coffee at home, running to Starbucks or Higher Grounds before work or school, or getting some caffeinated beverage like soda during the day, we have all had our share of caffeine.
More and more young children are starting to get into the habit of drinking some kind of caffeine on a regular basis. Some people, can actually become addicted to caffeine and are regular customers of the local coffee shop or grocery store. Starbucks tends to be the favorite choice regarding coffee for most people because of its large menu of steamy hot and icy cold caffeinated drinks. What some people don’t know is some of the effects that caffeine can have on their bodies.
Caffeine is often used as a stimulant to stay awake when staying up late to study for a test or finish homework. It is also used to compensate when there is a lack of sleep. Many people are subject to this treatment of caffeine. It is fine if the amount of caffeine and how many times it is taken in is used responsibly. If someone starts getting addicted to large amounts of caffeine, then a reduction of caffeine can result in headaches, fatigue, and even muscle pain. An over excessive amount of caffeine on your body can result in anxiety and dizziness. If this is paired with an unhealthy diet, caffeine can also increase acid production in the stomach, which can lead to heartburn and even ulcers! These negative results come when we misuse caffeine. If we aren’t drinking it five times a day everyday, our health problems should stay away. When we start drinking it to the point where we can’t go a day without it, an addiction will form and medical bills will start to pile up.
Personally I absolutely love having coffee on mornings where I stayed up a little later the night before to study and finish homework. Even on mornings I don’t stay up later than normal, I still make myself a cup of coffee if I’m feeling tired. I like to get my favorite drink at Starbucks every once in a while. The key to drinking caffeine is to do so in moderation. I know people who get Starbucks everyday! Some people have two cups of coffee every day of the week. As long as caffeine does not become a habit, it is okay to indulge every once in a while. People who drink caffeine often should consider the health problems that can occur and consider: is it worth it?
