3 Signs That You Need Motivation for the End of the Year

Spring Break always sparks the hope in students’ minds that summer is very, very close. This subtle mindset can lead students to lose motivation to work hard at school, and thus, many students limp their way to school’s finish line. This is commonly known as “senioritis,” but symptoms are known to occur in underclassmen as well. Unfortunately, the last few weeks of school are often the most important, with finals coming up right before school gets out. Students cannot let themselves backslide in their classes in these last few weeks, as hard as it might be going back to school right after being in the summer-like sunshine for a week. The first week back from Spring Break is already slowly crawling by. Don’t give in. Here are 3 common signs that you could be losing heart and headed down the slippery slope of poor academic performance.

Look, we all have days when we don’t feel like going to school and when all we want to do is sit at home and watch TV. But if this is becoming a common occurrence for you, it’s about time to take a good, long look at yourself in the mirror and question your maturity. As a high school student, you need to take it upon yourself to start being responsible without someone over your back telling you what you should do. Get to bed early and remember… joy comes in the morning.

For some kids this is a year-round thing, but it is very important for students to correctly prioritize their time. A good idea is to get homework and other important things done right when you get home so you don’t have to stay up late doing homework. Prioritizing what needs to be done and creating checklists can be extremely beneficial.

IMG_05053) YOU SPEND MORE TIME TRYING TO GET A NICE BEACH BODY THAN STUDYING FOR FINALS.

Especially around spring break, students are hitting the beaches and wanting to look good doing it. Getting that nice “beach body” involves working out and getting a nice tan. There’s nothing wrong at all with working out and soaking up some sun, but if you’re spending finals week doing crunches and sleeping on the tanning bed, then there’s a problem.

Buckle down; get motivated; watch a Rocky movie if you have to. Just make sure that you give these last few weeks your all. And then, when it’s over, you can relax in the glory of summer with peace of mind.
