Our speaker Andy Booth used the story about Jacob and Esau to explain and show an example of forgiveness. The speaker told how Esau had such hatred for his brother, Jacob, that he wanted to kill him. As time passed and Jacob had left Esau realized that he had much love for his brother. When Jacob came home rushing to his brother to kiss him on the neck. Back then a kiss on the neck meant a very special thing says Booth.
Instead of being bitter and harboring anger, Esau forgave his brother and replaced the hatred with love. The message is that we forgive because God forgave us and resentment makes us miserable; we need to have total forgiveness. We can all learn from Esau and Jacob’s story.
