Wednesday’s chapel began with a challenge to worship, paying attention to the words of the songs that we sing. Bella Coats, Lydia Flegge, and Grace Maconochie led the music, Bella reminding us that singing is just one form of worship and encouraging us to make everything we do an act of worship.
Ryan Reimschisel introduced the chapel theme for the year, Exiles. Being an exile is about being different and laying down our lives and desires to do what God desires for us.
Brandon Marker made it clear that the life we lead as exiles includes suffering:
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
What would it look like if we all decided to be different and live a life as an exile? What impact could we have on the world? Although we can never be perfect, when we strive for perfection, we can achieve excellence.
Jesse Harris urged us to be the person God designed us to be- a light in a dark world.
